Calif. Agency To Sue Government For Polluting Bay

Law360, New York (August 28, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The agency that oversees the regulation of water quality in California has threatened to sue the U.S. Maritime Administration for its alleged failure to clean up toxic pollution caused by a deteriorating fleet of decommissioned vessels anchored in Suisun Bay in the San Francisco Bay-Delta Estuary.

On Wednesday, the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board sent a 60-day notice of intent to sue both the Maritime Administration, which is an agency of the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the DOT.
