Fed. Circ. Grants Stays To Apple, Samsung In Smartflash Case

Law360, Los Angeles (July 10, 2015, 10:12 PM EDT) -- The Federal Circuit on Friday granted stays in Smartflash LLC's patent infringement suits against Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co., a day after the defendants argued the cases should be halted because the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board is reviewing the patents.

In a sua sponte order, the Federal Circuit stayed lower court proceedings pending Apple's and Samsung's appeals of a district judge's denial of their motion for a stay in the case. Smartflash is accusing the companies of infringing media storage patents.
