France Telecom Plans To Appeal Spanish Network Rule

Law360, New York (September 3, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- France Telecom plans to ask the Spanish courts to reconsider a decision by the country's telecommunications authority that says Telefonica SA does not have to let other carriers use its fiber-optic network.

Next week the company will appeal the Spanish Telecommunications Market Commission's July 31 ruling that forced Telefonica to open its underground ducts to allow other companies to lay cable but spared the operator from having to share its high-speed Internet network, according to a spokesman for France Telecom's Orange Spain.
