Overheating Risk Prompts Sony Laptop Recall

Law360, New York (September 4, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Citing a fire hazard, Sony Corp. has recalled nearly half a million of its Vaio laptop computers.

The electronics giant said Thursday that it was recalling 440,000 units worldwide, including 74,000 in the U.S., because faulty wiring connecting the main body of the laptop and its display could cause overheating near a power plug or the rim of the screen.
