AstraZeneca Sues Generic Drug Maker Over Prilosec

Law360 (June 1, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Swedish-U.K. drug manufacturer AstraZeneca AB has fired off a lawsuit to block an Israeli company from making a generic version of its gastrointestinal treatment drug Prilosec OTC.

AstraZeneca and other parties launched a suit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia on Wednesday against Dexcel Ltd. and its affiliates over claims that they infringed on three patents by taking steps to make and sell delayed-release tablets of omeprazole, the generic name for Prilosec.
