Law360, New York (September 4, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In response to provisions in the Medicare Modernization Act, over the past few years the federal government has implemented numerous programs and regulatory rules that support and promote widespread adoption of e-prescribing and electronic health records.

Those provisions include approved donations of e-prescribing and electronic health record technology, providing incentives to physicians who implement e-prescribing through increased payments and announcing proposed rules related to the electronic prescribing of controlled substances.
