New Exhaust Standards Will Curb Pollution: EPA

Law360, New York (September 4, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released stricter regulations Thursday to limit pollutants emitted by engines for consumer lawn and marine products, including weed whackers, lawn mowers and speedboats.

The standards — first proposed in April 2007 — will take effect in 2010 for water crafts and in 2011 for garden devices, but may not be fully implemented until 2030, when consumers will have replaced all of the mowers, boats and other products currently in use, according to a spokeswoman for the agency.
