NY AG To Sue Student Lender

Law360, New York (September 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The office of New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo confirmed Friday that he plans to sue student lender Goal Financial LLC for fraudulent marketing practices, including offering free iPods to lure prospective borrowers.

Cuomo's office provided Law360 with the July 7 letter that it sent to Goal Financial, notifying the lender that the AG intends to sue, and accusing it of deceptive acts in violation of the Higher Education Act of 1965.
