SCE Raises Nuclear Plant Stakes To $7.6B, Mitsubishi Says

Law360, New York (July 29, 2015, 5:18 PM EDT) -- Southern California Edison Co. has raised its arbitration demand against Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. from $4 billion to $7.6 billion over claims the Japanese company provided defective steam generators for the now-shuttered San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Mitsubishi said Wednesday.

SCE, joined by San Diego Gas & Electric and others, submitted to the International Commerce Commission on Monday what it said was additional evidence that merits raising its compensation request by more than $3 billion in the arbitration over Mitsubishi’s alleged breach of contract in providing the steam generators at issue, Mitsubishi said in a statement.
