Palomar Wins $22M Settlement In Patent Suit

Law360 (June 5, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two companies that have been embroiled in litigation over patents related to light-based hair removal technology since 2002 have announced a settlement, bringing two patent infringement lawsuits to a close.

California-based Cutera will pay Palomar Medical Technologies Inc. $18 million in royalties and interest, as well as $4 million to cover Palomar’s legal fees. While Palomar doesn’t actually own the patents at issue, it has an exclusive license to them through the General Hospital Corporation in Boston, Mass.
