Enviro Groups Sue To Stop New Sierra Nevada Plans

Law360, New York (September 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A coalition of four environmental groups sued the U.S. Forest Service on Tuesday to stop new rules for forest planning in the Sierra Nevada mountains that they say would ease the way for increased logging in 10 separate national forests.

The suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, alleges that proposed changes to the Forest Service's guidelines for monitoring management indicator species significantly weaken protection for the forests of the Sierra Nevada, which spans the border of California and Nevada....
