Key Energy Sues Rivals Over Well-Repair Patents

Law360, New York (September 12, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Rig-based well service company Key Energy Services Inc. has sued two rivals for allegedly infringing patents related to collecting data and conducting repairs in oil wells.

Key filed the suit Thursday against C.C. Forbes LLC and Petron Industries Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Key is accusing the companies of infringing U.S. Patent Number 6,079,490, titled “Remotely accessible mobile repair unit for wells,” and U.S. Patent Number 7,006,920, titled “Activity data capture system for a well service vehicle.”
