Drop in Online Music Piracy Seen Validating RIAA Strategy

Law360 (January 4, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- In a sign that the U.S. music industry’s aggressive legal strategy is working, online music piracy plummeted in the second half of 2003, according to a nationwide survey by the Pew Internet & American Life Project and comScore Media Metrix.

The share of U.S. internet users who say they download music fell from 29% percent in the spring of 2003 to 14% in November and December, according to the phone survey of 1,358 Internet users age 18 and over.
