Google-Yahoo Deal Under Scrutiny In Europe

Law360, New York (September 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The spotlight has intensified on the online-search advertising pact between Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc., with Europe's antitrust watchdog launching an investigation into the proposed deal that has already attracted heavy scrutiny on the other side of the pond.

The European Commission in July opened a preliminary investigation into the potential effects of the impending agreement on competition in the European Economic Area market, Jonathan Todd, a spokesperson for European Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes, told Reuters on Monday.
