Abbott Prevails Against Yeda In Protein Patent Tiff

Law360, New York (September 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal court Monday granted summary judgment to Abbott GmbH & Co. KG in a protracted lawsuit over Yeda Research and Development Co. Ltd.’s attempt to invalidate its patent for a protein that neutralizes potentially harmful amino acids.

Judge Ricardo M. Urbina of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia held that Abbott’s patent for the disputed protein was valid and vacated a ruling in Yeda's favor by the US Trademark Office's board of patent appeals and interferences.
