Nixon Cleared For Poaching Taylor Wessing Partners

Law360, New York (September 17, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Supreme Court of Monroe County, N.Y., ruled Tuesday that Nixon Peabody LLP had the legal right to hire 13 partners from the French office of Taylor Wessing, despite the firms' noncompete agreement.

Judge Kenneth Fisher granted summary judgment to Nixon Peabody, finding that the firms' July 2007 agreement was unenforceable under New York law, which prohibits restricting lawyers' employment.
