2008 Filings Already Outpace Previous Year: Report

Law360, New York (September 17, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The year may not be over quite yet but the number of corporate public Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 bankruptcy filings in 2008 has reportedly surpassed 2007's record, with the next three months promising to bring more of the same.

On Wednesday, BankruptcyData.com revealed that the total count for this year already stands at 81 filings, trumping the 78 public bankruptcies that took place in the previous year.
