Conectiv Energy Fined $5.3M For Excess Emissions

Law360, New York (September 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Conectiv Energy has been hit with a $5.3 million fine for flouting air pollution standards and faces the loss of its operating permit unless the company meets emissions limits at its coal-fired plant in Pennsville, N.J., the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection announced Thursday.

The DEP levied the fine and threatened additional sanctions for Conectiv’s repeated failure to rein in hydrogen chloride emissions from the boiler for its primary generator at the Deepwater facility.
