FDIC Gets Age Discrimination Case Tossed

Law360, New York (September 22, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has dismissed a class action brought by employees of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. who alleged they were discriminated against on the basis of age.

In granting the FDIC's motion for summary judgment, Judge Ricardo M. Urbina of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia said Thursday that older employees did not face a higher risk of termination than younger employees during a period of downsizing at the agency's Division of Resolutions and Receiverships.
