ITC Takes On Creative's iPod Challenge

Law360, New York (June 14, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission has launched an investigation into Apple Computer Inc.’s popular iPod digital music players, adding weight to charges of patent infringement made by its Singapore-based rival, Creative Technology Ltd.

The investigation request was filed May 15 by the company’s Milpitas, Calif.-based subsidiary, Creative Labs Inc. It accuses Apple of infringing a patent for technology that helps users navigate files of artists and songs.

The complaint accuses Apple of intentionally stealing Creative's interface ideas, and alleges violations of the Tariff Act of 1930....
