Chubby Checker Brings Trademark Suit Over Cufflinks

Law360, Miami (September 15, 2015, 7:42 PM EDT) -- Rock-and-roll legend Chubby Checker is not singing a happy tune in a trademark suit filed Monday in Florida federal court against the maker of a line of Chubby Checker cufflinks and Macy's Inc., Nordstrom Inc., Amazon.com Inc. and other sellers of the product.

The musician, whose real name is Ernest Evans, climbed to fame in 1960 with his hit recording "The Twist" and says that endorsements and the licensing of various Chubby Checker trademarks currently make up an important part of his livelihood, along with performances and public appearances.
