Reed Smith Merger To Bolster Securities Group

Law360, New York (June 15, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a bid to bolster its securities practice in key business markets, the United States-based Reed Smith LLP said this week it plans to merge with U.K. firm Richards Butler LLP, creating one of the 20 largest law firms in the world.

The combined firm—which will boost Reed Smith’s ranks to over 1,300 lawyers, with approximately 40 practitioners focusing on securities—will be known as Reed Smith, although there will be variations in some European markets, including the UK, where the firm will be named Reed Smith...
