Criminal Charges In Doubt Despite FBI Probe

Law360, New York (September 24, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The FBI has reportedly launched an investigation into Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., American International Group Inc. and other financial institutions, but some experts doubt that criminal charges will ever be brought against those institutions.

Peter Henning, a professor of law at Wayne State University Law School, said the investigation, which was leaked this week to various news organizations, probably has more to do with public relations than anything else.
