St. Barnabas Shells Out $265M Over Medicare Fraud

Law360, New York (June 19, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Saint Barnabas Health Care System has agreed to fork over $265 million to settle allegations that it defrauded Medicare out of more than half a billion dollars over an eight-year period.

The New Jersey hospital system announced the massive deal on Friday, seeking to put to rest claims that it abused Medicare’s supplemental-reimbursement program.
