U.S. Retailers Face Patent Suit Over Online Sales

Law360, New York (September 26, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Canon USA Inc., Walgreen Co., Kohl's Corp. and other major U.S. retailers are accused of selling goods through an online system that violates patents for an automated system for processing financial transactions.

In a complaint filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Landmark Technology LLC accuses the companies of violating U.S. Patent Numbers 5,576,951; 6,289,319 and 7,010,508, all of which relate to automated data processing.
