Chinese Drug Makers Appeal Pfizer's Viagra Win

Law360 (June 19, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two weeks after a Beijing court ruled that China's patent review board erred when it invalidated Pfizer Inc.'s patent covering Viagra, a group of Chinese drug companies has appealed that decision in a bid to market a generic version of the popular anti-erectile dysfunction drug.

That appeal was filed this week in a Beijing court after executives of the 13 companies decided to challenge the ruling handed down earlier this month, according to Dow Jones.

Pfizer confirmed that that it planned to oppose the appeal.
