GOP Senator Introduces Bill To Strip NLRB Powers

Law360, New York (September 29, 2015, 8:22 PM EDT) -- Republican efforts to neutralize the National Labor Relations Board continued Monday, as Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, introduced legislation that would strip the NLRB of its power to prosecute and adjudicate labor disputes.

The Protecting American Jobs Act, S. 2084, would allow the board to conduct investigations, but it would hand the power to hear labor disputes over to federal courts. Lee said the legislation, co-sponsored by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., would "finally restore fairness and accountability" to the country's labor laws.
