AB 32: Creating A Haze Of Uncertainty For Business

Law360, New York (September 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In 2006, California enacted the California Global Warming Solutions Act ("AB 32"), setting forth an ambitious program aiming to combat global warming.[1] The law requires the California Air Resources Board ("CARB") to adopt rules and regulations that will achieve 1990 levels of greenhouse gas ("GHG") emissions by the year 2020.[2] CARB will ultimately take on an enforcement and monitoring role.[3] In addition, CARB must recommend initiatives to continue reducing GHG emissions beyond 2020.[4]
