AstraZeneca Sues Accord Over Seroquel

Law360 (September 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP has taken aim at another company planning to market a generic version of the antipsychotic drug Seroquel.

The company filed suit Friday against Accord Healthcare Inc. and its Indian parent company, Intas Pharmaceutical Ltd., in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. The suit alleges that Accord's abbreviated new drug application infringes the key patent for Seroquel.

The patent at issue is U.S. Patent number 5,948,437, which expires in 2017.
