Wal-Mart Fired Worker For Being Transgender, Suit Says

Law360, Newark (October 9, 2015, 6:15 PM EDT) -- A transgender employee of a Wal-Mart store in New Jersey has hit the retail giant with a discrimination suit, alleging she was harassed and ultimately terminated after revealing her gender identity to her superiors.

Robert Samantha Azzarano claims a member services manager at the Deptford, New Jersey, store had called her a derogatory name and yelled, talked down to and unfairly reprimanded her, according to a complaint filed Oct. 2 in Camden County Superior Court. The manager then threatened Azzarano after she complained to executives, the complaint says.
