DOJ Sues DC Metro For Religious Discrimination

Law360, New York (October 2, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has lobbed a lawsuit at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, accusing it of failing to accommodate employees' religious beliefs by refusing to alter its uniform policy for bus drivers.

The lawsuit, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, takes aim at WMATA's policy of denying all requests for religious accommodations to its uniform policies “regardless of whether reasonable accommodations are available that would resolve the religious conflict without imposing an undue hardship on WMATA.”...
