British Airways Clipped By New Probe

Law360, New York (June 22, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Already under the competition microscope for its air cargo activities, British Airways PLC is now facing a new probe into whether the carrier colluded to fix passenger fare increases industrywide.

On Thursday, British Airways revealed that the U.K. Office of Fair Trading and the U.S. Department of Justice were looking into alleged cartel activity related to the pricing of passenger air transportation, including fuel surcharges.

British Airways is not the only carrier to be contacted by competition authorities this week in relation to the probe....
