Chevron Lobbying Won't Kill Ecuadorian Suit: Critics

Law360, New York (October 3, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Legislation extending trade benefits to Peru, Ecuador, Columbia and Bolivia passed the U.S. Senate Thursday after making its way through the U.S. House of Representative earlier in the week – without a rider pitched by lobbyists for Chevron that would have excluded benefits for Ecuador, which is currently embroiled in a $16.3 billion environmental suit against the oil giant.
