DOJ Settles Suit Over $2.7B Manitowoc, Enodis Deal

Law360, New York (October 7, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Heavy-machine maker Manitowoc Co. Inc. has agreed to settle antitrust allegations over its $2.7 billion acquisition of British rival Enodis PLC by giving up Enodis' entire U.S. ice machine business, the U.S. Department of Justice said Monday.

The federal regulator said the divestiture would alleviate its concerns about the merger by preserving competition in the development, production, distribution and sale of cube ice machines in the U.S.
