DOE Calls For 'Advanced Biofuels'

Law360, New York (October 8, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Energy has called for sharp increases in the production of plant- and biomass-based ethanol, arguing that corn-based biofuels alone can't meet the federal government's Renewable Fuels Standard.

The DOE released its “National Biofuels Action Plan” on Tuesday, outlining the science, infrastructure and environmental actions necessary to make “next-generation, cellulosic biofuels” and expand the biofuels industry.
