Fed. Circ. Affirms Semiconductor Patent Decision

Law360, New York (October 13, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has upheld a judge's decision to grant judgment as a matter of law to Jenoptik AG in a patent case over semiconductor production methods, a decision that negated a $75 million jury verdict for Asyst Technologies Inc.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled Friday that U.S. District Judge Jeremy Fogel of the Northern District of California was correct in ruling that the patent-at-issue was invalid for obviousness.
