Macrovision Sues 321 Studios Over DVD Copying System

Law360, New York (January 7, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- Santa Clara, Calif.-based Macrovision Corp. sued 321 Studios over its DVD copying system, claiming the software infringes its patented copy protection technology and violates the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

The suit alleges that 321's DVD X Copy family of DVD disk-cloning software products infringes on Macrovision's patented copy-protection technology and also violates the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Macrovision is asking the court to order an immediate stop to sales of 321's products.
