FCC Teaming Up With FTC On Consumer Protection

Law360, Washington (November 16, 2015, 6:11 PM EST) -- The Federal Communications Commission and Federal Trade Commission said Monday they will work together on enforcing consumer protection issues, but acknowledged each regulator has independent authority in policing actions by cellphone companies and other common carriers.

The agencies released a memorandum of understanding meant to formalize how the FCC and FTC will coordinate consumer protection efforts. The regulators will consult on investigations that could involve the jurisdiction of the other agency, share relevant investigative techniques and tools, and hold coordination meetings, among other efforts.
