Microsoft Prevails In MIT’s Color Copy Patent Suit

Law360, New York (October 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has come up empty-handed in its appeal of a judgment that found Microsoft Corp.’s image-editing software did not infringe its patent covering a color reproduction system.

In a brief order, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Tuesday upheld the lower court’s December 2007 final judgment, which determined that the Redmond, Wash.-based software giant’s products, including Picture It!, Windows with ICM 2.x and Windows Color System, did not violate MIT’s patent.
