Lift Of Chip Ban Changes ITC Landscape: Experts

Law360 (October 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An appellate court's decision to vacate the International Trade Commission's ban on importing electronics containing a Qualcomm Inc. chip may have broad implications for how patentees approach ITC proceedings, experts say.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled on Tuesday that the ITC could not block imports of products containing Qualcomm chips. The ITC ordered the ban in June 2007, after finding that Qualcomm induced the products' manufacturers to infringe a patent belonging to Broadcom Corp.
