YouTube Denies McCain Bid For DMCA Immunity

Law360, New York (October 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- YouTube Inc. has rebuffed presidential candidate John McCain’s request to protect campaign videos containing copyrighted media clips from being removed under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Zahavah Levine, chief counsel of YouTube, sent a letter in response to a request by the McCain campaign sent earlier this week, which asked the company to loosen its policy of temporarily removing videos accused of copyright infringement for political candidates.
