Citizens Sue NYC To Force Cleanup Of Toxic Site

Law360, New York (October 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Staten Island citizens group is suing the city of New York in an effort to force the cleanup of a decades-old landfill that was filled with tens of thousands of gallons of toxic industrial waste during an illegal dumping operation in the 1970s.

The Northern Great Kills Civic Association Inc., which represents residents in the Great Kills section of the borough, filed the suit Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York in an effort to speed the cleanup process...
