Target Corp. Settles Digital Video Patent Suit

Law360, New York (October 17, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Target Corp. has agreed to settle a patent infringement suit brought by major electronics firms over the use of patented components in the retailer’s in-house brand televisions and DVD products.

As part of the settlement, reached Tuesday, the Minneapolis-based chain agreed to enter a licensing arrangement for the patents, according to an attorney representing the electronics firms.

Target also agreed to ensure that back royalties were paid for use of the patents, according to the company that manages the licensing of the patents.
