Over 200 Groups Ask High Court To Weigh Immigration Case
Law360, New York (December 1, 2015, 9:58 PM EST) -- Over 200 immigration, labor and other groups filed a brief Monday asking the U.S. Supreme Court to hear the Obama administration’s appeal of a block on the president’s immigration actions, while the court opted to give the states bringing the suit an eight-day extension on responding to the government's petition.
The American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Service Employees International Union and 222 organizations urged the high court to take up the federal government’s appeal, which seeks review of the Fifth Circuit decision to affirm a block on executive actions that could shield millions of unauthorized immigrants from deportation.
