FDIC May Yet File Claims Against Washington Mutual

Law360, New York (October 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a bankruptcy court filing, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. has said that it may yet have significant claims against Washington Mutual Inc.

In a statement filed Monday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, the FDIC focused on the unresolved status of some $4.4 billion in cash that the savings-and-loan holding company had deposited in accounts now held by JPMorgan Chase & Co., which acquired Washington Mutual's banking assets last month.
