Labor Agency Reports 11% Drop In Union Convictions

Law360, New York (October 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The federal agency charged with investigating embezzlement and other criminal actions by union officials reported an 11 percent drop in convictions against union members in fiscal year 2008 compared with fiscal year 2007.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards reported a total of 130 indictments and 102 convictions for fiscal 2008, which ended Sep. 30. For the year 2007, the office reported a total of 97 indictments and 115 convictions.
