Seattle Becomes First US City To OK Unions For Uber Drivers
Law360, Los Angeles (December 14, 2015, 10:45 PM EST) -- The Seattle City Council on Monday unanimously approved a measure that would give drivers working for ride-hailing companies like Uber and Lyft the right to unionize, becoming the nation’s first city to let them collectively bargain.
The ordinance amends the Seattle Municipal Code to allow drivers at taxi, for-hire and transportation network companies to negotiate issues including pay and working conditions, according to a statement by the City Council on Monday.
