E.C. Forges Ahead In Telecom Probe

Law360 (July 7, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Making good on its threat to probe Europe's telecommunications industry, the European Commission said Friday that is opening five new investigations into possible violations of competition law in the industry.

“I am satisfied that national measures to enforce E.U. telecoms rules are getting results,” said Information Society and Media Commissioner Viviane Reding in a statement. “It is good news for consumers that comprehensive directory and enquiry services are being made available in almost all member states.
