ITC Launches Probe Into Nokia's Phone Technology

Law360, New York (July 10, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission has opened up an investigation into whether Finland’s Nokia Corp. and its U.S. unit took part in unfair trade practices by importing and selling phones that allegedly infringed six of Qualcomm Inc.’s mobile communications patents.

Qualcomm said Monday that the ITC decided to take up the semiconductor company’s complaint filed on June 9, which asks the court to prohibit some of Nokia’s products from being sold in the United States.
