Microsoft Sues Corel In Office Software Patent Battle

Law360, Los Angeles (December 21, 2015, 9:35 PM EST) -- Microsoft Corp. claimed in California federal court Friday that Corel Corp. ripped off Microsoft interfaces and used that as a key selling point for Corel programs, marking the latest patent suit in the rivals' ongoing battle over their home office software.

Corel had sued Microsoft in Utah federal court in July, alleging the company copied features from WordPerfect and was including them in Microsoft Word. On Friday the tech giant launched a suit of its own, alleging Corel concertedly copied the look of the Office software suite.
